Blog 2.3

1. Debt ceiling and government funding bills
2. They do not think Obama will concede to the efforts of the radical House Republicans
3. He demanded to receive more time for family and the freedom to not intend fundraising programs for the House.
4. Ryan will at first back radical conservative decisions, but will submit to more moderate decisions once he realizes that the decision is unpopular.
5. He believes that as Ryan supports more moderate, timid Republicans and shirks fundraisers, he will lose credibility with the party.

1. 70% of state legislatures, more than 60% of governors, and 55% of attorneys general and secretaries of state, not to mention both houses of Congress
2. The Democratic Party is too busy with the election to use this opportunity to gain power for itself
3. Many conservative legislations including regulations on abortion, unions, and voting rights, as well as large-scale teacher layoffs

5. In addition to the policies discussed above, they have passed the usual tax cuts for top-earners and more business friendly legislation.

1. Party officials who use a variety of methods to select the candidate they favor.
2. They were using the debate to discredit Trump as a candidate.
3. The issue of illegal immigration and Trump's promises to deport 11 million illegal immigrants when he is made president.
4. He was the most moderate of the candidates.
5. Choosing a nominee that party insiders can get behind.
6. Jeb Bush
7. Media coverage and the media's opinion of a candidate
8. They have power over the dates of primaries, ballot qualification requirements, and number of debates.
9. Many Republicans do not support their party's elites, as they do not sponsor the nominees they favor.
10. Most party elites do not support him, and some openly denounce him and his behavior.

Blog 1.1

1. Boehner would rather leave now than have to go through more stress for a job that hasn't helped him in any way.
2. The powerful members of the Republican side of the house will select someone they deem to be a good replacement.
3. He failed to use the new majorities to pass any new legislation.
4. Conservatives are threatening to shut down the government unless planned parenthood stops recieving federal money.
5. They made threats, but they did not have enough momentum to actually do anything.
6. He believes they want to employ tactics that are too extreme, which will cost them support.
7. Kevin McCarthy, a California Republican. He will not be any more or less successful, as the author points out, he faces many of the same challenges that Boehner did.
